Sydney Harbour YHA

(  /  / )
So you're planning to visit Sydney, Australia, and you definitely want to have the best traveling experience during your time here. Personally whenever I have friends visiting the first thing that they would want to see would be the Sydney Opera House and the Harbour Bridge. There's so many luxurious hotels in the vicinity and you'd go "damn, how I wish I could afford to stay there!".

What if I tell you that there is a place where you can be ballin' (on a budget) and it is located in the city's historic harbourside precinct alongside those 5 stars hotels? It is also close to all the major attractions! How convenient!

Presenting to you, Sydney Harbour YHA, an award winning and environmental sustainable hostel since its opening in 2009. Built above archaeological remnants of colonial Sydney, the YHA offers state-of-the-art facilities with an impeccable heritage experience and gives you plenty of bang for the buck! Watch the video at the end of the post to hear more about what the happy backpackers have got to say about their experience with Sydney Harbour YHA.

Building exterior
 Cozy lounge area
 Spacious and clean dorm rooms.
Private ensuite with the Opera House view
Enjoy the spectacular view of the Harbour Bridge and Sydney Opera House from the hostel's rooftop

Here's a list of things to do in the area:

See the sights of Sydney Harbour on a hop-on hop-off harbour cruise. The boat goes to Darling Harbour, Circular Quay, Fort Denison, Shark Island, Taronga Zoo, and Watsons Bay. You can jump on and off at any destination, stay as long as you like, then board another boat to your next sightseeing destination.

(Watsons Bay)

Wander down The Rocks Market on Saturdays and Sundays, and The Rocks Foodies Market on Fridays. More info here
Walk the Sydney Harbour Bridge

Check out the art exhibitions at Museum of Contemporary Art

Nightlife:

Since the YHA is located in The Rocks, there are numerous historic pubs within the area. You would want to make your first pit stop at The Australian Heritage Hotel (just next door from the YHA), it offers a superb selection of beers, and gourmet pizza to boot! I personally like The Glenmore for its beautiful rooftop garden, The Observer Hotel, Harts Pub, The Hero of Waterloo Hotel, just to name a few.

All in all I had a wonderful time staying and exploring places with Sydney Harbour YHA. The hostel offers special travel packages so do check them out! More info here.
