Stay Gold

Recently I got to spend an amazing week in Queensland, Australia with YHA. The first couple of days were spent at Coolangatta, Southern Gold Coast. You know how I much I love the sun, sand and sea, so being at Gold Coast was so surreal! Sun, surf, stunning coastlines, 20km of golden beaches, and an average of 265 sunny days a year, definitely the home of Australia's coastal culture!

I stayed at Coolangatta YHA, it's literally 5 minutes walk from the Gold Coast Airport and 150m from the beach. Just because it is so close to some of the best surf breaks in the world, a lot of surfers and backpackers would flock there to ride the sickest waves at the world renowned beaches such as Snapper Rocks. Even the most prestigious surfing competitions were held there. There's never at all a dull moment during my stay there because there's so many activities and places to visit in Cooly and you can book the day tours at the YHA front desk.

Here's a list of things that you can do at Coolangatta:

Take surfing lessons
Tandem skydiving
Cuddle a Koala & feed Kangaroos, Crocodiles and Lorikeets at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary
Snorkel with turtles
Scuba dive & feed the fishes
Party at Gold Coast nightclubs, bars and restaurants
Whale watching (June-October)
Visit one of the many Themeparks, Wet'n'Wild, Dreamworld, Movieworld, Seaworld
Visit Currumbin Rock Pools
Walk the path along the beach to Point Danger lookout
Relax on one of the many pristine beaches
Take a rainforest tour to Lamington or Springbrook National Parks
Rent a bicycle from YHA for a day and explore Cooly on wheels
Chill out at YHA lounge and games room. The people there are all very friendly and you can also play with Cooly the hostel dog!

See what I mean? So many exhilarating activities to do! I had such a delightful time there and if you ever get the chance to take a trip down to Coolangatta, I promise you'll LOVE it!
