Fun, Falls and Forest

There are so many things you can do in Cairns apart from snorkeling and scuba diving at The Great Barrier Reef. I wanted to experience as much during my 5 days in Cairns and I'm thankful for my friend who works for a travel agency, he recommended the Fun, Falls and Forest adventure with Uncle Brian. Not knowing what to expect I just went for it and boy I can say that I had the best time waterfall-hopping. It was a full day of crazy fun! I trekked through the oldest living rainforest, swam in crystal clear mountain water at Babinda Boulders, swimming holes at Josephine Falls, behind a stunning 30 meter waterfall at Milla Milla Falls, in a volcanic crater lake that is over 60 meters deep at Lake Eacham, and ended our day doing Platypus-watching at Yungabarra. Forget about looking at Platypuses in a zoo, they rarely come out. I was lucky enough to spot not just one, but a few cute Platypuses gliding in the Yungabarra River!

The Atherton Tablelands does boast some of the most spectacular waterfalls in Australia. Never a dull moment when you hop on Gus the Wonder Bus with Uncle Brain!
